About our school

Mount Gambier North Primary School is a culturally diverse R -6 public school located on Heath Street, Mount Gambier. We have 200 students enrolled across 13 classes.

As well as our mainstream progams we offer specialist personalised education programs through our three Special Education classes and three Intensive English Learning programs. We have a number of children with disabilities and those who are humanitarian refugees. Recognising the needs of our students, we support students and their learning using our Well Being team and support families through our Community Hub.

Our vision is to provide a safe and secure learning environment with high expectations of our learners. We nurture, encourage independence and practice kindness through gratitude, empathy and mindfulness. We support and encourage young people to achieve their full potential in numeracy and literacy so they are equipped to have successful lives in the modern world. We pride ourselves on providing a high-quality academic learning environment, which is both caring and supportive of individual students from all nations.

Our facilities

Gymnasium

Our school gymnasium is a purpose built building with a stage, is multi-media friendly and r/c air-conditioning.

Playground

We have 2 nature-based playgrounds that provide a fun outdoor learning environment. Mount Gambier North Primary school has a dedicated landcare area. Students are encouraged to help maintain this area and learn about

Landcare and vegetable garden

Our learning environment is enhanced with our Landcare area and vegetable garden.

We use rainwater tanks to store water and maintain a wetland with a creek running through a revegetated bushland. The water-course leads to a frog pond where we breed local frogs. Our natural ecosystem is an engaging space for playing, exploring and learning.

Children at Mount Gambier North Primary School are encouraged to learn through ‘real life’ projects in the environment. Including composting, gardening, caring for chickens and recycling.

Children are supported to understand the significance of the environment to the original custodians of the land the Boandik people.

“The learning experience at Mount Gambier North Primary School is fantastic. There’s full support from the teachers, who encourage and challenge my children to always do their best.”
